Garden people love Easter. What’s not to love, but really, we eagerly await spring weather not just to drag all our stuff outside and expand the square feet of our lives but to feel the renewal and reawakening of life. Spring is truly inspirational.
We get a buzz from the rejuvenation of this time. You can almost hear the bud break and those first colours that pierce the blanket of grey are mesmerizing.
And so Easter to us is a celebration of the return of colour and the resilience and miracle of life. It restores our faith that perhaps nature is an unbeatable underdog that no matter how much we worried all winter that we had truly done it this time and kissed it all goodbye, pop!, it shoots back up for another round.
This week we discovered a local grower that had some incredible tiny African violets and other shockingly colourful varieties. We dropped them into some heritage glass cups and chalices and the combination turned out to be better than candy! We call them Piccolos! Literal spring cheer on a rainy day and the perfect gift for family and friend that are hosting this coming weekend.
