It was as though Mother Nature herself got the day off Mother’s Day this past Sunday and her husband ran the show for a while — because it was messed up.

This past Sunday was the first day of Centro Farmer’s Market. All we can say is thanks to the amazing vendors and wonderful visitors who braved the crazy weather crowded into Centro Parking for the first downtown market of the summer.

If Sunday is any indication of the rest of the summer, our decision to move the market to a Sunday was a great one. The vibe was amazing with old friends and new friends lingering to catch up and meet, talk and buy the healthy and delicious goods that the market had to offer.

Can’t wait ’til next Sunday! Hope you can make it part of your routine.

The Farmers and Foodies are Back! We’re very excited to announce the start of the 2013 Farmer’s Market season in Centro Parking. Most of our amazing vendors will be back including a few new ones. Check out the vendor list here.

This downtown Burlington market was started by us in 2012 as a way to connect healthy food lovers with passionate food producers in the region. Following a successful first year and many supportive calls for its return, we’re back.

The market is nothing without you so please come out Sunday mornings and support local and healthy fresh food and the great people who grow and produce this quality lifestyle alternative.Stay tuned for a list of vendors and details for our exciting opening day — Mother’s Day May 12th.

A staple for Centro Garden, our spring bulb vase is a crowd pleasure in the store. We get asked all the time how to make this so we recently slowed it down to make a short pictorial how to for you.

If you wish to tackle this at home, ask staff to put together a kit for you of the bulbs of your choice, a vase and gravel. Easy stuff, it just takes patience and time. Enjoy!

Looking to brighten up your Easter table or for stylish hostess gifts for the Easter weekend? We’ve been busy making some beautiful living arrangements and spring pots in addition to sourcing exciting new design which is arriving daily.

Last Easter we featured the Piccolo — a tiny living arrangement or planting we do in a sweet tea cup or light. By popular demand we’re doing it again but they won’t last long! Give us a call or email if you’d like to reserve a few.

If you are at all like us, waking up ahead of the sun is not listed as one of your skills, especially this time of year. Hence this store opens at 10 through the week. Furthermore we’ve learned that to keep our cheer glass full, we need to shine up the room with lively colour and fresh spring greens.

Right now we’re filling the store with a constant refreshing of forced winter bulbs in glass and planters. They really are a marvel and last so much longer than cut flowers. Once they’ve tired, we cut off the greens to the bulb, toss them into an old paper bag and mark before storing in the shed ’til they can be planted next fall.

In-store now we have an array of great finds; some newly arriving each day now and some that snuck in just before Christmas that few of you got to see under all the glitter that took over.

One of the things we get asked the most for this time of year is hostess gifts — spontaneous and quick little gifts that say “loving you” to your generous hosts, stand out beautifully and last.

Here’s just a smattering of the many unique arrangements, plantings, ornaments and decor items that fly.

If you are looking for a certain look, or, you’re the generous one hosting a dinner and want some small holiday arrangements for the table, let us know and we’ll make something custom for you in any size and quantity.
